Goals without action are dreams and actions that are not aligned with a concrete goal and comparable follow up are usually a waste of time.
Doing something repeatedly without clear purpose or motive doesn’t really get you anywhere.
Here’s an example: If you have a goal to develop 10 new business relationships over the next 2 months and one of the ways you decide to do that is by attending 2 or 3 events a month, those actions sound reasonable. But if you go to those events, collect a lot of business cards and do nothing with them (often the case) then you will have a difficult time achieving your goal of developing new relationships.
Taking the actions that align with your goals is about develop ongoing strategies for getting it done. Here are a few strategies that might help:
———-
“Take Action” Strategies
———–
1. Get out of your comfort zone – Sometimes we know what actions to take, but we’re not doing them. You have to get out of your comfort zone, which is not always easy, but do it anyway. Pick up the phone and make that call, post that video, reach out to 15 new people online, etc.
————-
2. Let others know what you want to accomplish – Get the support of others by letting them know what you’re trying to achieve and how they can assist you.
————-
3. Plan Ahead. When you plan ahead it allows you to stay focused on what needs to be done. Try planning your day the night before by reviewing your goals along with the relevant actions needed to move forward.
————
4. Just Do It! The original Nike mantra still stands true. There’s no need to procrastinate. Decide what you need to do and, Just Do It!
——
You can be more productive by taking action!
Small steps are better than no steps at all,
so set your goals and go for it.
