We all know how important relationships are to business, but wouldn’t it be great if you could build good, solid lasting business relationships that create opportunities for your company? Here are three ways that you can make the most of your relationships with the people you work for and with.
- Make Real Connections – Have you ever heard the saying in business, It’s not personal? The truth is, it is personal because people want to work with people they know, like and trust and in order to have those factors, you have to make REAL connections. Don’t be afraid to get to know the people you work with. Find out who they are and what’s important to them. This allows you to connect and care on a deeper level.
—————- - Establish Expectations – Things fail when expectations are not managed properly, especially in relationships. At first glance, this might sound a bit self-serving, but I’ve seen partnerships, teams and client relationships become derailed because clear expectations were not established up front. Regardless of the relationship, there is something you need and something they need. Clear the air and make sure you set the bar by helping each other understand what those needs are.
————————– - Communicating Openly – Make it a point to create an environment for open dialogue between parties. This means one should be prepared to listen and hear as well as speak. Speaking allows us to share our point of view. However, listening gives us the opportunity to hear another’s ideas and perspectives.
